About who else? Me. And my blog.

I can’t believe I have a blog. In my wildest ruminations, I never imagined I’d have a blog. Yet here we are.

As previously stated (basically every entry since the start of this thing), it’s my goal to lose weight. Maybe I’m not going about it in the most conventional fashion, but neither have I chosen the riskiest nor most controversial.

At the request of one of my wonderful brothers, I started this blog so he could follow along on my journey from afar, and maybe some other family and friends as well. It’s become apparent the entire process will approach at least one year in duration. From there, we’ll find out what a day-to-day existence in maintaining my weight loss looks like. I’m sure there will be lots of twists, turns, and detours along the way. After all, I’ll have the challenges of managing my weight with travel to far off places, visiting friends and family, going through the holidays, attending special events, and basically surviving life–all while maintaining my weight.

So there you have it… as for who I am, well, at this very moment in time I am a 34-year-old single woman. A California ex-patriot who loves my home state as well as the state in which I currently live, Colorado. I make no bones about being a California girl down to my toes. I’m not a beach rat (I come in two colors: glow-in-the-dark white and exceptionally painful burned lobster red), but I love the ocean. I don’t like being stuck in traffic during rush hour, but I love the freeway system. I don’t like the smog, but I love having humidity. Basically, it’s home. Bottom line.

I’m gainfully employed and earning a wage, but that’s about all you’ll get out of me on that subject.

I have a wonderful family, and I will speak of them, but you won’t get copious details regarding their lives without their permission. In fact, sometimes I’ll just refer to them as “the brother,” “the sister,” or “the sister-in-law.” Mind you, the first and last can be singular or plural because I have two of each; however, I have but one sister. This is my blog, not theirs. As such, I strive to keep them out of the line of fire as much as possible. I also have two parents, but I choose to protect the innocent and you won’t hear much about them either. The same for the extended family. Privacy is precious and theirs is respected as much as possible.

And, as they (whoever “they” are) say, a picture is worth a thousand words. If that’s true, here’s 3,000 words worth:

P.S. In two of the three photos is one of my favorite brothers, Ethan. Ethan’s the brother who asked/told/made me start this blog. He was the most excited when I was still in the planning stages, my biggest cheerleader throughout the process, and possibly the person most proud of my success. Everyone trying to lose weight and get healthy should have an Ethan (and an Adri (his wife)) to cheer them on and be excited for the changes to come.

Disclaimer(s):

This site is not intended to exhort anyone to do anything. It’s simply my account of my quest to be lithesome. Its intention was to allow those whom I love to follow along and join in the journey. As my confidence and comfort level expanded, it was opened up to the big wide world for anyone to see and follow.

This blog consists of my many ramblings on and around the subjects surrounding my weight loss… everything from the joys of horrible food to the necessary evil that is exercise to the challenges of shopping when you don’t like shopping. I occasionaly delve into my own psyche for a little self analysis.

As I can neither read nor control minds, I am in no way responsible for what may spew forth from someone’s brain in the comments left by others. However, as the sole operator of this blog, I retain the right of booting out anyone who offends me (think of it as the right to refuse service, something found in many shopping and eating establishments–they don’t have to simply because they don’t want to).

Lastly, if you don’t like something written here, that’s fine. You are under no obligation to stick around. No one is forcing you to read this.

That is all.
